We are trusted to SIC code the databases of many large utilities companies. In most cases the SIC codes we give are submitted to the government and/or used for important decision making - such as should a company be paying VAT for this service? It is crucial that we offer SIC codes for as many of their business customers as possible, whilst retaining the highest quality.
Our SIC coding service uses the latest automated technology followed up with manual quality/research work to give the highest quality and quantity of Standard Industry Classifications. We put a large amount of work into our service and yet still manage to offer very reasonable prices.
We offer a FREE SIC coding sample service: we will put a portion of your data through our automated services for free. This will show you the starting quality of our work, especially if you compare our work to our competitors.
If it is of interest we will also enhance your data with company size information (where available) and a region flag so you can analyse your data by SIC code, company size and region. There is no additional cost: you pay for the SIC coding and you receive the extra data elements for free.
We have added Standard Industry Classification (SIC) codes to an amazing 99% of all the business records we have ever put through our full SIC coding system (when including manual coding).
Our method...
1. Match incoming client data to our 6+ million business universe (live and ceased trading) and append SIC codes where found.
2. AutoSIC the unmatched records to add more UK SIC codes. For some companies you can tell what they do from their name. Our software AutoSIC utilises millions of words and statistics to add an SIC code with a high degree of confidence just from a company name.
3. We perform a manual quality check to improve the automated results, this involves us looking through weaker parts of the data and manually improving the SIC codes generated by the earlier automated processes. Generally 30% of the data is checked. Steps 1-3 together generally add SIC codes to 85% of a database.
4. (Optional) We manually add SIC codes to any company record still without one. Our manual research team will research each company, to try and find the best SIC. This is time consuming so does have an impact on cost. This step usually involves us researching around 15% of the data.
